The August hike will be Saturday, August 28. We will visit one of our favorite spots - Salmon River just outside of Zig Zag. This is a moderate 5 mile hike (very little elevation) that takes us along the Salmon River. We will meet at the Happy Valley parking lot at 9:00 am. Please bring water, sack lunch and gas money for the drivers. This is a beautiful hike!!

The June hike will be Saturday, June 12. We will head over to the Rose Gardens by the Zoo for a simple but beautiful hike! The May hike will be Saturday, May 15. We will hike Mosier Tunnels - which is the old Columbia River Hwy - between Hood River and Mosier. This is a 9 mile hike - round trip - on a flat paved surface. The views of the gorge are beautiful this time of year!! We will meet in the parking lot at Happy Valley at 9:00 am. Please bring water, sack lunch and gas money for the drivers.

March 2010 Hike

Hi Ladies!

Well the first hike of 2010 is finally upon us!! We will meet at the Happy Valley parking lot at 9:00 am on Saturday, March 20 and head out to Starvation Creek State Park just outside Hood River. This is an easy 3 mile hike that will take us partially on the trail of the old Columbia River Highway with beautiful scenes of the gorge - then under the freeway and along the Columbia River. This is a beautiful hike!! Please bring a sack lunch and water. Remember - we go rain or shine!!

Future hikes include: April - Zoo to Pittock Mansion
May - Mosier Tunnels in Hood River
June - The Rose Garden
July - Cook Park in Tigard

Final hike for 2009 - Mosier Tunnels

Hi Ladies,

Please join us for our final hike of the year. We will re-visit Mosier Tunnels - which is the Historic Columbia River Highway between Mosier and Hood River. This is a 9 mile hike, flat and relatively easy. We did this one in May and it was beautiful - the gorge in the fall should be fabuluous!!

We will meet in the Happy Valley parking lot at 9:00am on Saturday, November 14th. Please bring a sack lunch, water, money for gas for the drivers, an umbrella if you want and wear layers. It might be a little chilly - but it should be beautiful!!

~October Hike - Salmon River in the fall!!~

Hi Ladies,

The September hike was a little wet - but well worth it! We all got lots of goodies at the Farmer's Market. The October hike will take us to a familiar spot which we have only seen in the spring! We will be doing Salmon River again and hopefully catch some beautiful fall colors. This is a nice 5 mile hike along the river. We will meet at the Happy Valley parking lot at 9:00 am on Saturday, October 24. Please bring water, sack lunch and money for gas for the drivers - and an umbrella if you want - as we go..... rain or shine!!!!

September - Gresham Farmer's Market

Hi Ladies! Please join us on September 19 as we walk the Springwater Trail from the Highland Safeway to downtown Gresham. We will shop at the farmer's market, eat lunch at Main Street park and head back to the safeway (6 miles round trip). We will meet in the parking lot at Happy Valley Campus at 9:00 am. On Saturday June 20 we will head up to Zig Zag to hike the Old Salmon River Trail. This is an absolutely beautiful 5 mile hike that follows the Salmon River almost the entire time! Hi Ladies! The May hike will take us to Hood River where we will hike to Mosier Tunnels. This is a 5 mile hike where we will view "spectaular geologic formations" as well has beautiful gorge views!! Meet at the Happy Valley Campus parking lot at 9:00 am on Saturday May 23. Please bring water, sack lunch and money for gas for the driver's and day use passes for the vehicles. The weather is supposed to be georgeous - but we go rain or shine!!!!

~ APRIL HIKE TO SILVER FALLS ~

Hi Ladies!! On Saturday, April 25 we will head up to Silver Falls just outside Silverton, Oregon were we will see 5 SPECTACULAR FALLS!! This is a moderate 6 mile hike with several elevation gains. Wear shoes with traction, layer, bring water and a sack lunch. Sorry, no dogs are allowed at this park. We will meet at the Happy Valley parking lot at 9:00 - and plan to be back around 4:00. Don't miss this one - the falls are amazing! Remember, we go rain or shine!!

The March hike will take us to Oxbow Park on Saturday March 7, 2009. This is a beautiful 4 mile hike which mostly follows along the Sandy River. We will meet at 9:00am in the Happy Valley campus parking lot. Please bring water, sack lunch and gas money for the drivers. There is also a $5.00 fee to park per vehicle. Sorry, dogs are not allowed at the park.

In April we will head up to Silver Falls and stop by the Wooden Shoe tulip farm on the way home. This hike will be April 25 - more details to come!!

The next Extreme lite hike will be Saturday, February 7 2009. We will hike the 4 mile loop at Tyron Creek State Park - over by Lewis and Clark college. This is a great hike for this time of year. As you know, we go - rain or shine!! Last year it snowed and it was beautiful! Pack a snack/lunch as we will stop along the hike.

The Extreme Lite ladies will be heading to The Grotto on Thursday, December 11 to see the annual Festival of Lights, music concerts and outdoor carolers. We will meet in the parking lot at Happy Valley campus at 6:30 pm or you can meet up with us at The Grotto. General admission is $7.50 per person and they ask you bring a gift of baby food. If you plan to meet us at The Grotto please call me to arrange a meeting place.

No October Hike - Next Hike is November 8

The next extreme - lite hike is Saturday November 8, 2008. We will meet at the Happy Valley parking lot at 9:00am and head over to Wildwood Recreation Area - just outside of Zig Zag. This is a beautiful 3 mile hike along the Salmon River - with some paved paths, a board walk and minimal elevation. Please bring water, sack lunch and money for gas for the drivers. SEPTEMBER HIKE

The September hike will be to 2 falls in one day!! We will be going up to Elowa Falls (pictured above) and Upper McCord Creek Falls in the Columbia Gorge. The hike is only 2.1 miles round trip - but don't let that fool you!! This hike has moderate difficulty and moderate elevation - but the views of the Gorge are not to be missed!!
It is a great hike! We will meet at the Happy Valley parking lot on Saturday, September 27 - 9:00 am. Please bring a sack lunch and water. Dogs on leases are welcome. The weather should be beautiful - but we go rain or shine!! So far, even on rainy day the hikes have been worth it so please join us!!

The next hike will Saturday, July 26 to Ramona Falls! Located just outside of Zig Zag, this shady trail takes us through a mossy alder forest to the shady grotto of this beautiful fall. This is a moderate hike with gradual elevation, approximately 7miles round trip. We will stop at the falls for a picnic, so bring a sack lunch and plenty of water. A recreation pass is required for each vehicle which we will purchase in Zig Zag. Dogs on leases are welcome. We will meet at the Happy Valley Campus at 9:00 am. Please bring gas money for the drivers and to purchase the passes. Hope to see you there - you won't want to miss this!!

Rose Garden Hike

MAY HIKE - - -

Hi ladies! The next "lite" hike will be Saturday, May 24 at Mt. Tabor. As usual, we will meet in the church parking lot - Happy Valley Campus at 9:00 am. Mt. Tabor is in SE Portland, so it will be a short drive. The hike is approximately 4 miles total , relatively easy and the view of downtown Portland is beautiful!!. We will have blankets as we plan to stop and have a picnic, so please bring a sack lunch and some gas money for the drivers. Dogs on leashes are also welcome! This is a great way to meet people, get some excersise and enjoy the beautiful views right in our own backyard - so please come join us!!

April Stop and Smell the Roses Hike

The next Stop and Smell the Roses hike will be SATURDAY, APRIL 26, 2008. We will meet at the Happy Valley church parking lot at 9:00 am and head over to Forest Park in NW Portland. It is a 5 mile hike that will take us to the Audubon Society and then up to Pittock Mansion. There is moderate elevation on the portion up to the Mansion, but we will take it slow and the view is worth it!! Please bring a sack lunch and money for gas for the drivers.

The May hike will be Saturday, May 24, 2008. We will be going to Mt. Tabor.

Stop & Smell the Roses

EXTREME WOMEN LITE: The next "Stop and smell the roses" hike will be Saturday, March 15. We will meet at 9:00 am in the church parking lot and head over to Powell Butte. It is a local, easy hike that offers beautiful views of Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens - if we are lucky! The hike is about 3.5 miles long, pack a lunch and we will stop along the way. Our theme for the spring is "Urban Outings" exploring our own backyards. In April we will go to Forest Park, May is Mt. Tabor and June will be The Botanical Gardens where we hopefully will smell some roses! Exact dates will be announced soon.
